Spring Boise Activities You Don't Want to Miss
Spring Boise Activities You Don't Want to Miss
Spring weekends in the Boise area are honestly one of the best times of year here. The foothills are green, patios reopen, farmers markets start up again, and everyone wants to be outside before the summer heat hits. Here are some of the top local favorites:
Walk or Bike the Boise River Greenbelt
The Boise River Greenbelt is probably the most “Boise” spring activity there is. The river is flowing high, trees are blooming, and people are out walking, biking, longboarding, or grabbing coffee nearby. Popular spots include:
- Julia Davis Park
- Esther Simplot Park
- Kathryn Albertson Park
- Garden City winery area
Hit the Boise Foothills
Spring is peak foothills season before it gets hot and dusty. Camel’s Back and Hulls Gulch are the go-to quick hikes, but there are tons of trails for trail running, mountain biking, or sunset walks. Race to Robie Creek is one of the iconic spring events every year.
Farmers Markets
Once April hits, Boise weekends revolve around outdoor markets:
- Capital City Public Market downtown
- Boise Farmers Market near Shoreline
- Hyde Park and neighborhood pop-up markets
They’re packed with local food, flowers, coffee, live music, and Idaho-made products.
Spend a Saturday in Hyde Park
North End spring weekends are truly elite:
- brunch
- patios
- coffee shops
- walking the historic neighborhoods
- grabbing ice cream and heading to Camel’s Back
It feels very “small-town urban Idaho” in the best way.
Idaho Botanical Garden
Idaho Botanical Garden is especially good in spring when everything starts blooming again. They also host seasonal events and evening concerts later in the season.
Outdoor Patio & Winery Days
Garden City has become a huge weekend hangout area:
- wineries
- breweries
- food trucks
- river access
- live music
People usually combine this with biking the Greenbelt.
Bogus Basin Spring Days
Bogus Basin can still have snow in early spring while Boise is sunny and green. Spring skiing or just grabbing lunch up there is a very Boise thing to do.
Festivals & Events
Spring is when Boise’s event calendar wakes back up:
- Treefort Music Fest
- First Thursday downtown
- Idaho Shakespeare Festival starting later in spring
- Greek Food Festival
- outdoor expos and markets
Family-Friendly Spring Spots
If you’re with kids or just want relaxed outdoor activities:
- Discovery Park
- Zoo Boise
- floating toy boats at Esther Simplot
- picnics at Ann Morrison
- horseback riding experiences like SS Ranch 77
Easy Spring Day Trips from Boise
A lot of Boise locals spend spring weekends doing short drives:
- Idaho City
- Lucky Peak
- Swan Falls
- Kuna backroads
- McCall once snow starts melting
- Bruneau Sand Dunes
What are your favorite Boise Spring activities that you do year after year?
